Carrying trekking poles
To make trekking poles more accessible follow the instructions below:
1. Place the trekking poles side by side so that the top of one is level with
the bottom of the other.
2. Push the bottom end of each pole through the
strap on the other one until the straps meet each other.
3. Hang the two
linked poles over the gap between your bag and your shoulders.
Keeping your backpack cover in place
To ensure that you backpack cover stays in place on windy days:
Purchase a strap used for keeping an ironing board cover in place, i.e. an
elasticated strap with a clip at each end.
Place the strap across the middle
of the back of your bag and fasten to the edges of the cover.
Lacing Boots
To make your boots more comfortable around your ankle:
When lacing boots 'up' miss out the cleats that are next to the top.
After
lacing around the top cleats lace 'down' around the cleats you have missed then
tie the laces.
Rucksack Water Bottles
To keep the bite valve nozzle clean obtain a 35mm film case. Drill or cut a hole
in the bottom large enough to take the water hose without the bite nozzle.
Remove the bite nozzle from the water bottle hose and pass the hose through into
and through the film case. Replace the bite nozzle and pull the hose till the
bite nozzle is in the film case. Put the lid on the film case to seal. The bite
valve nozzle is now always free from getting dirty and all one needs to do to
have a drink is remove the top of the film case and push the hose to expose the
bite nozzle.
