| Comments: | A group of twenty nine left The Grapes PH and headed along Out Lane to reach the railway station before walking a busy lane to Lostock Bridge. They then followed the River Lostock embankment to turn north and walk alongside Wymott Brook for a short distance before turning off for Copeland Farm. Using field paths they joined North Road at Bretherton Moss. In the distance three deer could be seen watching the watchers. Leaving North Road the group used field paths before crossing the Preston to Ormskirk railway line to join Ridley Lane. On either side of Ridley Lane are to disused refuse tips. These were formally clay holes for a brickcroft. The resulting methane gas from the tips is used to generate electricity and this is fed in to the electricity grid system. Leaving Ridley Lane at Littlewood Bridge the group crossed Barber’s Moor and Moor Road to return via Out Lane to The Grapes for a well earned lunch. | ||
