| Comments: | Forty two people ambled round the route on field paths and tracks through mainly pasture land with the usual inquisitive cattle and horses. From Bremetennacvm (Ribchester) there was a gradual ascent in the general direction of Longridge. At Frances Green the group joined the Ribchester/Longridge road at the site of a former hospital for a few yards before heading for Eatoughs Farm and then a gradual descent to Red Bank and the River Ribble. The group returned to Ribchester along a riverside track passing a property known as “Boat House”. Could there have been a ferry crossing at one time to Osbaldeston on the opposite bank of the Ribble? Also in Ribchester there are the remains of a Roman bath house. It was a little too cool to take a dip but fortunately there was no water in sight. A nice walk with a nice meal at the Ribchester Arms. Thank you leader and back marker(s). | ||
