| Walk: | Birkhouse Moor and Helvellyn | ||
| Start Point: | Glenridding | Grid Reference: | NY 386 169 |
| Distance: | 11 miles | Ascent: | 3,100 feet |
| Time: | 6 hours | ||
| Weather: | A dry day but very cold in parts. | ||
| Comments: | A group of five set off from a busy Glenridding car park on a cool dry morning. After climbing to the top of Birkhouse Moor we continued on to find a sheltered spot, just before Striding Edge, for elevenses (and a few flakes of snow). We proceeded over Striding Edge then joined the throng of people on top of Helvellyn. With fantastic views in all directions we decided to stay high up for longer than originally planned and continued on to Sticks Pass via Lower Man and Raise. We then made our way back down to the cars, having had a dry and breezy day on the hills. | ||
