| Walk: | Gray Crag, Thornthwaite Crag, High Street, The Knott & Hayeswater | ||
| Start Point: | Hartsop | Grid Reference: | NY 409 131 |
| Distance: | 7.5 miles | Ascent: | 2,800 feet |
| Time: | 5.5 hours | ||
| Weather: | Fine morning with some sunshine, but clouding over with some rain by lunchtime, and windy pm. Improved as we descended but more rain as we got back to the cars. | ||
| Comments: | Our small party of 3 left Hartsop and were soon climbing up to Gray Crag. As we walked along the ridge to Thornthwaite Crag the fine weather deteriorated as the clouds darkened and there was a sleety shower as we had our lunch. It stopped as we made our way along High Street to the Knott, with some brightness but a cold wind. As we descended there was another short icy shower and as we looked back from Hayeswater we could see some mist on High Street. Apart from the odd shower we were lucky with the weather, and enjoyed a cup of coffee at the new snack bar in the car park at Hartsop. | ||
