| Walk: | Stone Arthur, Great Rigg, Heron Pike, Lord Crag & Alcock Tarn | ||
| Start Point: | A591 Lay by after Swan Hotel | Grid Reference: | NY 337 087 |
| Distance: | 7 miles | Ascent: | 2,675 feet |
| Time: | 6 hours | ||
| Weather: | Sunny with some light rain showers | ||
| Comments: | Our group of 7 set off in the sun to start the climb up the fell to Stone Arthur. As we approached Stone Arthur a shower passed through and as it moved along the A591 a rainbow appeared for a few moments. Onto Stone Arthur for coffee before we headed for the path along the ridge to Heron Pike. However with the fine weather it was decided to go on to Great Rigg, and even Fairfield looked inviting, but it was back to Heron Pike. On to Lord Crag below, picking up the unmarked path down to Alcock Tarn. After a tea break it was down to the path running parallel to the A 591 back to the cars. An excellent day on the fells. | ||
