| Time: | 3 hours | ||
| Weather: | Cloudy but dry. Cool but not freezing. | ||
| Comments: | Twenty seven people took part in the walk that used field paths, country lanes, river embankments and tracks. Using field paths we walked north from Station Road to Marsh Lane crossing Hall Carr Lane and Hall Lane on the way. At Marsh Lane we turned left to The Dolphin PH admiring snowdrops that grew in profusion on the way. A few yards past the PH we turned left to reach an embankment on the River Douglas before skirting a mound (former tip) to arrive a little muddy at end of Station Road. (The OS map Explorer 286 appears to be inaccurate at around GR SD458251. Keeping to the unofficial path on the embankment takes you to a stile on the edge of the tip and the official path). On reaching a lane (Station Road) we turned left in an easterly direction before turning right to traverse more fields and an old railway track bed to arrive on the A59. Turning left we returned to the Fox Cub via Brook Lane and Station Road to enjoy a hot meal. | ||
