| Comments: | Sixteen walkers led by Sheila were blessed by the weather on this early spring day. Snow drops could be seen in abundance and snow was in evidence on the higher levels. Starting with a climb from “High Reston Farm” to “The Heights” the path then descended to Ulthwaite Bridge. Following the River Kent upstream towards Kentmere Tarn, splendid landscape views of Kentmere and Green Quarter could be seen. At Kentmere Hall a bonus of extra mileage was given. In an anti clockwise movement we circled round via Rook How and Raven Crag to return to Kentmere Hall by the back door. From Kentmere Hall the return route to Ings took a higher level path that increased in altitude by three hundred feet in three miles. At Whiteside End the path levelled out as we tramped across Mickle Moss towards “High House”. Mainly down hill Sheila headed for “Broadgate Farm” before taking a field path to Grassgarth. Following a lane from Grassgarth we arrived at Ings. For a change the paths were mainly dry with just a trace of mud. A most enjoyable day. We had chatted and laughed and put the world to rights and were slightly intoxicated perhaps, by the beauty of the Lake District. Thank you Sheila. (Information by 'Norman the Scribe') | ||
