| Start Point: | The Wheatsheaf, Croston | Grid Reference: | SD 489 187 |
| Distance: | 6 miles | Ascent: | Mainly level |
| Time: | |||
| Weather: | Over night rain stopped for the start but there was a heavy shower of about a half hour duration on the walk. Warm and humid | ||
| Comments: | Fourteen people departed from The Wheatsheaf to walk past two schools on the way to the River Lostock at Barber’s Moor. From the river we then joined the A581 at the “Millstone” and then walked down Sarscow Lane to Sarscow Farm. Following Spent Brook to Ingrave Farm we used a newly diverted path to reach New Lane. (The original path passed through Ingrave Farm but there are dangerous buildings, hence the diversion). On entering Eccleston over the River Yarrow we turned right to pass through a recent housing development (Formerly The Blue Anchor). Following field paths parallel to the Yarrow we emerged on to Syd Brook Lane and headed for Croston via a Nature Reserve at the rear of the parish church. A meal was then enjoyed by all at The Wheatsheaf. | ||
