A Sad Goodbye

The Group was saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie Nurse after a short illness. Marjorie had been a committee member and was a regular walker with the Group until recently - indeed she was a '2' walker well into her seventies.
Marjorie was extremely well-liked, concealing a warm nature behind an often blunt manner, as many of us will testify! She was never slow to express an opinion, be it about the way business was conducted or the quality of the food on one of our weekends away. But everything was done for the good of our members to whom she was fiercely devoted.
Marjorie showed many of us small acts of kindness, often unseen, and was well-travelled and knowledgeable about many things. She was good company to walk with and will be sadly missed by us all. As someone once said, "The loss of one diminishes us all".
Marjorie will always be remembered for her distribution of sweets after the lunch stop on our walks. She always kept behind a few liquorice ones for me! At her well-attended funeral in Poulton, sweets were distributed to the congregation - a fitting tribute to an exceptional person who lived life to the full.
